Vegan Spring Rolls - 3 Ways

    Here are 3 fresh, low-fat, vegan spring roll recipes inspired by traditional Asian flavors, each with a unique twist on the filling, wrapper, and dipping sauce. None are fried—they’re all served fresh, preserving both flavor and nutrients. 🥒 1. We have a " Health Message " and we take it seriously.   Adventist Christians are pretty widely "known" for their Vegetarian Cooking Schools, the Coronary Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), the 5-Day Stop Smoking Plan, and the Depression Recovery Program.  Traditionally we stick to these Adventist resources, but a surge of interest in the benefits of plant-based lifestyle has provided a wider base of like-minded materials to draw from for our educational outreaches. In our particular church community there is a small handful of people who were "raised" in the Adventist church... the rest of us have joined, mostly as adults, and quite a few of us were  impressed to become part of this worldwide movement because of the holistic understanding of the Good News-- that is, that our spiritual and mental health do not function independently from our physical health.  We were created as "whole" beings in the likeness of our Creator. "Forks Over Knives" Screening in the Comox Valley

On March 28th at 7pm at the Filberg Centre in Courtenay you will have the opportunity to join the buzz of thousands of health-seeking North Americans who have watched the documentary movie, "Forks Over Knives." Cost of admission is a non-perishable food item for the local Food Bank. Seating is limited so call now to reserve your seat for this screening at 250-338-5258. Watch for vegan cooking demonstrations to follow up this important movie!  We will post any future events on here and share the recipes that are demo'd.  But any food samples will be the good fortune of people who are actually AT the events, so hope you can make it! AMERICAN CHEEZ Recipe (Gluten-free, dairy-free, Vegan)

American Cheez- freeze and cut for sandwiches... completely thawed is a like a cream cheese spread-- delicious! *1 C. Water *1/3 C.plus 1 rounded T. Agar Agar powder *1 1/4 C. Boiling Water *2 C. Raw Cashews (cleaned) *3 T. Nutritional Yeast** *2 tsp. Onion Powder *1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder** *2-3 T.Lemon Juice (fresh if possible) *4 Oz. Pimento OR 1/2 Large Sweet Pepper OR about 2 tsp. Paprika *1 1/2 tsp. Salt *Soak Agar Agar in 1 C. Water in blender while assembling remaining ingredients. *Pour Boiling Water over Soaked Agar Agar and whiz briefly to dissolve. *Cool slightly. *Add Cashews and blend thoroughly. *Add remaining ingredients. *Blend until the consistency of creamy sauce with pimento well blended in. *Pour into 1-quart mold, cool slightly. *Cover and refrigerate overnight. *After firming in fridge, Cheese may be frozen until needed. *Makes 1 quart. NOTE: **To make Jack Cheese, double the Garlic Powder and Nutritional Yeast. Other Cheesy Sauce or...
